Share the Beach with Wildlife

Snowy plovers need lots of privacy when they are nesting. That’s why some beach areas are closed during their summer nesting season. Watch for signs that indicate a plover management area and steer clear.

Marine mammals stranded on the beach

Remember, harbor seal pups found on beaches are usually not stranded. Do not disturb them! Keep dogs and people far away. However, if you see whales or dolphins stranded on the beach, immediately contact the Oregon Marine Mammal Stranding Network. Do not disturb the stranded animal, and keep dogs and people far away.

Keep yourself safe, too

Sneaker waves, rolling logs, and rip currents can ruin your trip to the beach. Be smart, stay safe.
